Today the planet is facing with an increasingly important and alarming phenomenon that needs constant attention in all fields: global warming.
Contemporary design cannot be just a matter of taste, but it must be that it speaks of historical and geographical events that are marking a global change. For this reason, the proposed design object becomes a coffee table, through its soft line, of this phenomenon that becomes the true protagonist of the coffee table.
Not just an object, but a slogan, a manifesto that focuses attention on the problem of climate change, promoting the awareness of the population and future generations so that a vital issue is not overlooked.
For this purpose, the proposed table starts from the idea of a block of ice that - due to global warming - begins to melt. To get the idea it melts, it opt for a single slab that ideally folds on itself and goes to design the feet of the table, the only flat element that makes it functional. The table consists of a single metal plate, of adequate thickness, which also has a load-bearing function. From a technical point of view, the idea is realized starting from a metal plate with dimensions of 1.6x1.8 meters, which is cut with the technology of numerical control and then folded following two folding lines, with a radius of 15 and 30 mm.
The proposal focuses on the idea that design can be an effective dissemination tool, a fundamental element of collective communication. TooHot can therefore be talked about and an icon of global awareness.
